Complications during Surgery :(

Make the most of your pals and family.

Lost a few over the years, motor bike accident, Piper Alpha, alcohol and substance abuse, suicide and natural causes. It's never easy.

So sorry to hear this :(

sorry to hear that phil my thoughts are with you i have lost a few mates over the years its never easy and it makes you have a good look at life as said bud rem the good times

My sympathies. Just before Christmas I lost a mate I've known for over 40 years. As someone pointed out, he's the first of our "gang" to pass away from illness - lost a few through accidents. Bit of a leveller :(

That said, his funeral was really good (if that's the right word). Got to catch up with some people I'd not seen for years - and have subsequently kept in touch with. it truly was a celebration of his life. Knowing he had a terminal illness, he'd had a huge say in the service, and you could tell. We all remarked that he'd have really enjoyed being there :)

Keep strong.

Condolences Phil :(

Don't stifle your grief - Let it out and don't be afraid to cry if it takes you that way. But, as several others have posted, dwell more on the good times you shared.

The funeral, whatever form it takes, will offer you closure - You will never forget your close friend but he/she would want you to continue enjoying your life.

I speak from lots of experience including the death of a son.

I lost my best mate in a motorbike accident the day after my birthday. I think about him every day.

It'll never go away but as time goes on you'll cope with it better.

Thanks everybody

I was a bit maudlin last night but more upbeat today (y)

Been there too often myself Phil, the sadness does eventually ease.
In the meantime just try and think of the good times you had together.

Sorry to hear you sad news Phil, glad you are felling a bit better :)

Sorry to hear about your friend.
As has been said, remember & celebrate the good times you were able to share.
Thoughts & prayers are with you & his family.
