My Sony a65 seems to have lost the auto focus facility no matter what lens I use- the green light comes on and the beep sounds lens moves in and out as if focusing- - yet the image is obviously out of focus on checking the image in camera, in manual focus mode ( when I manually focus on a shot) it works 100%

Just started doing this 5 mins ago any idea's?????

I have not got a Sony but my first reaction would be to try to reinstall the firmware if you can. If not reset the camera back to its default setting. It could be a software issue.

Good luck.

Have re-set to default settings, no change

But thank you for the reply

It's telling you it doesn't want to leave :)

Make sure all lenses are set to AF and also the camera body has the AF/MF switch set to AF.

I'd also remove the camera battery after doing a reset to factory defaults. Leave it for a short while then turn back on.

If it is still the same then I'd go back to where you bought it from and get them to fix it FOC as it is only just out of 12 months warranty.

If it still all out of whack then that suggests the alignment is off. On some of the sonys there is a screw under the bottom somewhere you can adjust it. It's tricky to do yourself so it's probably better to send it to a proper service centre.

withdrawn from sale because of this fault :bang:

All lenses and camera body set to AF -I'll re-set again and remove the battery - see how that gets on, tomorrow taking it up to London Camera Exchange, bought through jessops, so not sure how that would work?

Amazon are usually pretty good on customer service. I'd just email them about the situation and see what they say in the first instance when you say it has failed in this way and you don't expect it from such a new (but out of 12 month warranty) camera.

They may just authorize a repair straight away.

At least it happened before sale and not to the person that bought it from you!

sorry Suz, most lenses came via Amazon- the a65 came from Jessops :bang:

Ps I wouldn't even consider selling any item that was not 100%

Arse! Might be worth emailing new Jessops to see if they'd offer any good will about a repair...

I know the AF alignment can be altered with the screw on the base plate that is hidden under a label on some sony's.

Thank Suz, not willing to start screwing around with screws :lol::lol:

Lets see what LCE can do for me- don't mind paying, just want my AF back
