weekly Lorraine's 52 in 2015 - Week 24 Spiral Added

Week 24 - Spiral

Well, at least this week's theme was easy to do. It may not be the best image, but it tasted good! This one's lit by natural light, I did have a couple of tries with the flash, but they didn't work as well. I lifted the shados aa bit, but I'm not sure if I went too far?

My gosh another original take on the Spiral theme - never would have thought about that. What a scrumptious shot.

Entertain - nicely on theme and well spotted. As to the black line, having played the Cello & Double Bass for many years in my younger days, I can confirm it is indeed to stop the spike from slipping. :)

Entertain: Fits the theme well. Nice little ensemble. Sometimes you have to use the camera you have with you. Funny I never seem to think about using mine.

Spiral: Yummy image, looks very appetising. A good sharp image with lovely colour tones.

Hi Lorraine how's it going....

Entertain .... Its a good thought that! You should have told them to shufti up to a nicer background. Not bad for a phone shot, I think. fits the theme well(y).

Spiral ... That's a great take on a spiral.... I'm still think about this one:(. Anyhow why do people post food shots when your starving?:). I don't think the shadows have been lifted too much... looks fine to me. Think the only improvements would be a covering of Icing and larger diameter;). That's what I call an original take on the theme(y)

Entertain well spotted a different angle, maybe higher, maybe lower.

:agree: ... maybe just one of them ... from behind ... from up on that ramp/walkway. o_O;)

And Spiral is a neat idea.

good idea for spiral, and you've got the light spot on. Only thing I would have done is centred the cake on the plate a bit more :)

Hi Lorraine,

Sorry I haven't dropped by in quite a while!

Machine - I like this but I think it would work better if the turbine was facing you rather than away.
Alphabet - I understand the B is for Bit's n bobs but it doesn't real say Alphabet to me - sorry. Nice still life photo though. I think I would try and clone out some of the reflections in the ball but I think that would be tricky and probably very time consuming. The edit is a much better photo loosing that bit of lighter curtain.
Sound - Great interpretation of the theme. I like the slightly dark mono pp too :)
Experiment - A really nice set of shots. Thanks for the explanations too. I've not really experimented with off camera flash too much. Now I feel I should :) The edit is even better (y)
Heat - I think the dark shadows really work in highlighting the shape of the chillies. I do find the shadow in the top left a distraction though.
Figures - Another good series of shots. I'm finding it difficult to pick a preferred one. I think the bounced flash works better but that maybe just that the highlights are just in a slightly different place on the piece.
Household - Good idea and on theme. I like your experiments with flash too. Maybe it needs to be more diffused?
Limit - That was a tricky one. Well done for getting a shot. I always feel oddly nervous about taking shots like these with lots of people around.
Bizarre - Yes it is! :D Bang on theme (y) Edit is much better re the rabbits feet.
Broken - I like the second one better. The only thing I would change is possibly removing the bit of broken egg shell in the foreground. I think I prefer the slightly wider view too.
Entertain - That's good for a camera phone and it does indeed fit the theme. Must have been quite relaxing to hear that whilst waiting for your train.
Spiral - A good idea for the theme and it works well. I wonder if a slightly higher angle so that the background was all table would work? I find the white area a tad distracting. I'm not sure it would have lasted long enough in our house to get the photo :D

Entertain; on theme and you done well considering the very busy background. Perhaps from a different angle may be.

Spiral; that looks tasty and yummy. Well balance exposure and sharp image.

Thannks Stan - I'm glad the first shots I took worked out, cos someone ate my prop! :D

My gosh another original take on the Spiral theme - never would have thought about that. What a scrumptious shot.
Thanks Carl - I love it when you can eat and take photos :)

Entertain - nicely on theme and well spotted. As to the black line, having played the Cello & Double Bass for many years in my younger days, I can confirm it is indeed to stop the spike from slipping. :)
Thanks Chris, and thanks for explaining what that black line was :)

Entertain: Fits the theme well. Nice little ensemble. Sometimes you have to use the camera you have with you. Funny I never seem to think about using mine.

Spiral: Yummy image, looks very appetising. A good sharp image with lovely colour tones.

Thanks Mandy :)

Entertain well spotted a different angle, maybe higher, maybe lower.

Cheers

Thanks Andy :)

hi Steve, thanks for stopping by - I'm now trying to do a bit of a catch up, I never thought of asking the bnd to move a bit - I'll try that next time! :ROFLMAO:

Hi Lorraine.
Spiral - mmmm food :) I wish I had thought of that, though I doubt it would have lasted long enough to take the photo.

Thanks Tim it was touch and go whether it lasted the shoot, but as it had been the last one in the shop, I restrained myself :D

:agree: ... maybe just one of them ... from behind ... from up on that ramp/walkway. o_O;)

Thanks David :)

Thanks Summer :)

Hi Lorraine, and what a great idea for Spiral. A nice original take on the theme and I think the light is fine; the shadows help to define its shape and texture. Yum....!

Thanks Andrea :)

Hi Lee, thank you for stopping by and thanks so much for taking the time to give feedback on so many shots - it's really appreciated :) :) and I'm really glad you liked so many of them :ty:
