I think I know the answer to this before I start.....send it for a service.

It's an old Olympus OM 24mm f2.8 used with an adaptor on a G3, brilliant IQ.

A service is going to cost me about 35% of what I paid for it, and it will not get an awful lot of use.

Is there a way a competent person with an engineering background and the right tools could go about freeing up the focusing ring....:cuckoo:

I know..... you probably all think I'm mad.
 
You could try a PTFE spray if you have any, it's a tool spray used on routers, saws etc that is dry and may work. Anything with silicon in avoid as a pig to get off anything it touches.
