Loom Bands

Well, I'm in the kitchen with my 10 year old daughter who is wwwayyyyy past her bedtime. She asked me to help her with a
"complicated loom band technique!, I'm making an owl". Her and her friends have been loom banding for about a year now.

For those not in the know, these are loom bands.

Now, my first thought on a Friday night was to give her "10 minutes and get to bed!" , but she's watching a loom tutorial on her Kindle and I'm sitting here and watching her, and it's fascinating. The concentration is amazing and I'm actually helping her.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and played marbles.

Wonderful to watch...although it's now 2 hours after her bedtime and she's getting a little frustrated

Must admit though, when something does grab their imagination and concentration it is a wonderful sight to behold.

Good to see that some yung'uns still find something creative to do,
instead of watch TV and or play xBox etc.

It does go to show, however, how times have moved on,
instead of reading a book on "how too"
its now all done by the www.

My colleague's daughter, who's 8, has been making loom band bracelets so everyone has ordered one and we've all given her a pound each for her to give to charity. She's fair churning them out.

I tried making some for my 6 year old.....I got cramp in my thumbs after 10 minutes!!

My youngest son is the same but with logo technic. He's only 3 but he is a whiz at playing with logo. He's going to be just like me. Logo technic used to keep me entertained all day everyday. Still does on a rainy weekend lol
