Hello

I am looking to buy a new desktop PC but I can't decide what I should get

Now I want:

A dual core machine minimum (Core 2 Duo or above)
Minimum 3GB RAM
Minimum 500gb hard drive
I don't play games but do edit photos so the graphics needs to be okish, built onto the board will be fine.
I already have a 22 inch LED monitor

Now, first off I looked on the comet website and found the following:

http://www.comet.co.uk/p/Computer-Base-Units/buy-ACER-X3950-I3-Computer-Base-Unit/676780

I also get 10% off the price above through work :)

I then thought I could probably build the same spec for half that price with parts from Ebuyer....turns out not really, if you add on the cost of Windows 7 ....the price is almost exactly the same!!

Do I build one or just get the one from comet?
I am guessing comet will use the cheapest parts?

Cheers

Laurie

building your own will almost always get you better parts, unfortunately at this price point youll always spend more building your own just because of the el-cheapo parts used in the pre-builds.

also in your price range:

more memory, dedicated graphics etc. no idea what graphics that comet one has, it has X next to shared graphics and dedicated graphics.. lol

Have a look at these people I bought mine from here.

I to bought my PC quite a few years ago from Mesh. They could build it much cheaper then I could myself because they bulk buy components I guess. Support also good from them.
