Hi was hoping I could get some advice, I need a tripod mainly for macro shots.
I have quite a shakey hand and can't get the images I use to be able to do hand held.
I don't have a huge budget but don't want to buy something cheap and regret it ( don't to many times in the past) but don't want waste my pennies either.
Advice please :)

One word......Redsnapper.

According to all the satisfied owners on here you won't get anything better for the money and apparently their aftersales support is above and beyond.
Forum members get discount too.

well you need something with tilting collum
i use rather a benbo treker
or manfrotto 055cx pro 4

and i have a uni loc 1700 i don't use the days
but all have wide low angle speadable legs and tilting collums so gan if needed get camera with in a cuple inches from ground
or reach over obstacles

and you need a shutter release rather cable or in for red

Manfrotto 190xprob - decent quality and not too expensive.

I noticed on another site that Giottos are bringing out a new range, the 'Silk Road' series. The profile of the centre column allows the legs to be folded in that bit more to allow for better stowage when not in use. They seem to be retailing at a simalar price to the range they are replacing, so there may be a few bargains to be had regards the old stock still kicking around.

I'm in the market for a new tripod myself, and am drawn to Giottos for some reason, will hopefully be keeping an eye out for a bargan!

Try konig tr60 from Amazon, I got one for Xmas about £50 mark and its is superb
tripod
