Hello, new member here, and new to photography. hopefully have bought enough equipment (D3100, 18-55mm, 55-200mm, 35mm f/1.8G prime and tripod) and have shot over 600 shots so far, mainly landscape with done a few nice sunset shots.

at work, there is a photography challenge, theme is Innovation and problem solving. Full text is:
"Art of solving a problem, being innovative, finding a solution with the resources you have."

i've NO idea how to record that in a photo.:bonk: have you guys got any ideas?

done 3 shots: a close up of a leaf with water on it. "nature's innovation". a rear curtain of me looking at a lightpainted question mark. finally a shot of the word solution through a magnifying glass.

can post them up here, but i don't think any of those are good enough in terms of the actual idea behind each shots. im hoping you guys could come up with some special ideas? just throw them in this thread, i'll try to do it and post it up here. :help:

First thing that came to my mind is a person sat at a table (work canteen?) with a burger on one plate and an orange on another. Healthy or unhealthy choices?

Find a random three-year-old...

Sit them down in front of a bucket of early years Lego...

Light well...

Photograph...

Done! :D

that would be work related and promotes healthy eating. but not sure about its relation to topic of innovation and problem solving? but it's certainly easily done, i shall source some unhealthy food tonight. :D

excellent idea! not sure how to source the model and subject in question, but i shall see if i can get it setup. all close friends i know are not married and don't have kids, neither do i have any bits of my childhood toys. (besides, meccano FTW :p )

keep the ideas coming! going on holiday next week, so really need to get the shot sent off in the next few days, aka Friday.

How about one of those multiplicity shots, you doing something that solves a practical problem, e.g. wrapping a big, awkward object ...

great idea! shall see if i can come up with one.

considering this is the first month of me getting an DSLR (iphones before that). plus never touched photoshop and only installed GIMP once. this is going to be a very fun project.

Kidnap a kid and nick the lego!

LOL. nothing to see here..... :suspect:

how's this for a first attempt at multiplicity shots: (probably only attempt for this challenge unless i can find a more interesting location)

Hi. Not bad. You could have lost the flowers and the radio. Possibly a bit underexposed. Good first attempt. Hope they appreciate the effort you went to!

thanks, will adjust exposure. did another one in the garden yesterday, but i felt it was tacky.

many thanks for the multiplicity idea. submitting it tomorrow.

That multiplicity shot is very clever
