I'm trying to find a fairly sturdy flat kind of clamp to fix a vise to a bench and am having great difficulty finding anything in the UK. These are some examples of the kind of thing I mean

I need the vise to be removable and don't want to drill holes in the bench if possible. Anyone seen anything like this in their travels?

Most vice benches incorporate a clamping system of some kind, so it may be easier to buy one complete? - but assuming your bench vice is more substantial, what I have done before is to bolt the vice to a piece of 18mm plywood and then use standard G clamps at each end of the sheet to hold the plywood firmly to the bench or workmate.

I just use hefty G-clamps on the bits that stick out, where the bolts would go through, works fine for me

As Al said, use a piece of wood and screw your vise to that, then you can use any old clamp you have.

Cheers guys, I've got the vice bolted to a wood plank and it's the plank I'm actually looking to clamp to the bench (home built so no fancy extras). I've got one of these clamps already which came with a desk lamp and it fixes my belt sander jig down but the vise really needs two for stability.

just do a search for G clamps they must still make them ,i would have thought any good building suppliers would have them just done a search loads on about ,e/bay ,various shops even B & Q ,don't search for clamps put in G clamps

I got my G Clamps like the first on in the op post from screw fix. Super sturdy heavy steel thing. Every man got to have some in their shed :)

F clamps are worth a look:

I tend to use quick release clamps: they are one handed operation which I need as I work on my own :)
They are normally about £5 to £10 for a 150mm size. I picked up a couple from my local B&Q as discontinued for 50p each recently.
Lidl and Aldi quite often have them.

Thanks again but g or f clamps would be too bulky I have plenty of both types. I've bought a couple of these from ebay, the cutting boards will come in handy somewhere down the line I'm sure.

Those would be fine for very light work a G clamp would be much better.

Most accidents happen because tools are blunt or work-pieces loose.
