I'm looking for a shoulder camera bag to hold 2 bodies, a 70-200 and a 24-70 and maybe a flash too, anyone able to recommend a bag?

I'm currently using a Lowepro CompuTrekker but it's just too big when I don't need to carry loads of gear.

I use a Kata 3N1-30 backpack/slingshot & have the following in it:

Nikon D700 & MB-D10
Nikon 70-200 VRII
Nikon 24-70 AF-S
Nikon TC-17E II, Nikon 50mm, Nikon 20mm AF-D (all in hard cases - these hard cases)
Nikon SB-600

Still has plenty room for more..

 Would've been easier to say all in the sig below is what I have in it

But then again there will be an on slaught of other recommendations for you to consider :p

Kata DR466i here... amazingly compact versatile bag, mega comfy and will fit all your items in there plus more.

Mine has carried:

2 Digital SLR bodies, 4 lenses for aforementioned SLR bodies, a film SLR plus 3 lenses, a macbook pro, rain jacket, water bottles, a sandwich and a Manfrotto tripod strapped to the outside.

I made mine. I bought a good sized sports bag form an outdoor market, sponge, black cloth, velcro, glue and did a "Blue Peter"

It turned out pretty well, holds two bodies, all my lenses and the outer pockets hold my accessories....

It may not be a big name bag, but it does a good job and is going strong three years later :)

For a Ryanair/EasyJet compatible camera bag making full use of the allowance I'm increasingly thinking this is the only option.

There has to be a market for a convertible flight/day bag for holidays where you want to take a selection of gear but don't plan on carrying it all at the same time when you get there.

Sorry for the hijack.

Kata 3N1-30. In this I have 2 Canon dSLR bodies, a Canon 100-400, a Sigma 180 Macro, Canon EF-S 10-22 & 17-85 lenses. 2 Canon flashguns, Metz Macro flash, various releases including radio release plus a couple of Lastolite reflectors, batteries and all the other paraphernalia.

The beauty of this bag is that on the walk in it can be carried as an ordinary rucksack, with a decent hip belt to carry the load, then once on site the straps can be reconfigured to slingshot to allow easy access to the kit carried inside. One of the best bags I've used.

I was a bit disappointed by its smaller brother though, when I was looking for one for my wife - the hip belt and side padding were poorly positioned and were most uncomfortable.

Having Canon lenses, I don't need to baby them by carrying them in cases in the bag (just joking). The padding and divider system is sufficient to protect without having to carry lenses in their own cases.

The benefit for me is that it doesn't look overtly like a camera bag :)

I have a Kata 466i as well, you can take out the padded camera section and unzipped the middle divider and use it as a normal rucksack if you wish.

I use an FStop Bard, which I really rate but think the Think Tank Retrospective would also be worth a look.

I have a billingham 225. will easily hold a gripped cam + lens attached, 70-300vr, siggy 10-20 + another. So would fit the bill?

Tamrac Expedition 6x.
2 bodies with lenses
2 additional lenses
2 flash guns
Batteries, cards, filters and a laptop if you want.

Crumpler Muffin Top 4000. Holds my D40 with kit lens (18-55) attached and 55-200 with space for other bits as well.

Think Tank Retrospective 20 should do the trick, I can get 2 Dx00 bodies, a 70-200, a 50mm, a 35mm and an SB-900 in mine and, although I wouldn't recommend it, it'll hold a 13" macbook as well at a push.

Thanks for the recommendations folks, I think I'm going to look into the Think Tank range more, looks pricey but worth it. Anyone know the cheapest place in the UK to order one?

Another vote for the Kata 3N1-30 here. I got one a couple of weeks ago and once configured to taste it is an excellent bit of kit.

Thinktank Urban Disguise and Retrospectives both offer masses of space for gear and other stuff

I have an Urban Disguise 60 which holds D700 (with grip if required), 24-70, 70-200 (mounted if necessary), 16-35, 2 flashes and lots of bits and bobs as well as a large laptop (though I rarely use that its handy for extra clothing, manuals, flash modifiers, etc.). Plenty of room for another body as well, mounted or not.

It is as capacious as any of my airport-legal rucksacks so you may find some of the smaller models fit OK. The 50 or 35 (which is orientated vertically to hold long lenses) may be worth checking out. None of them look like camera bags which is good.

Makes a great flight bag too, and you can order a separate (compact)shoulder harness which works well and folds up inside a pouch at the back. It really makes carrying it easier when fully loaded and makes it more versatile. highly recommended.

Usually best mail order prices can be found here:

Good luck.
