Every time we go round the National Trust properties my wife admires the old portrait paintings which usually adorn the walls, particularly those of the style associated with Queen Elizabeth I, Sir Walter Raleigh and others which I can best describe as finely picked out detail of court dress, full face portrait and often a very dark background.

Christmas is coming. Does anyone here please know of an artist who might be capable of creating such a painting of my wife?

I think its probably a bit late now. Most artists will be pretty busy in the run up to christmas, and to my knowledge an oil painting needs to be left about 1 month before fully dry.

I can't help in terms of finding what you want, but have you considered a pastel picture ?

I've used this lady a couple of times (for pet portraits) and her work as been exceptional. She also does portrait work which looks good. Her prices and turn around times were great, after that its just a matter of getting it framed as you choose.

I am in no way linked to Sally (Logue) just a very satisfied repeat customer.

No problem, I can highly recommend her work and notice she's still taking commissions for christmas.

Forgot to say she works direct from photo's and the works are posted between two wood boards to prevent damage.
