Yes
For my sister's christmas present.

I have done a quick search on here, but couldn't find much.

Budget of £250-£300, looked at:
  • Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50
  • Canon PowerShot SX10 IS
so far, any other contenders? Ideally like plenty of optical zoom, IQ and image stabilisation a must too as she is pretty cack-handed.

Most shots are taken in-doors so a low noise at high ISO would also be advantageous.

Am i asking too much?

Thanks,

Jonathan

:p, and I thought you wanted advice on shooting bridge (locations, etc.) :p

I am devoted to my Panasonic FZ8

It is however, an older model and there are newer versions that I have also heard good things about - FZ18 / FZ28 and I think FZ50. I'm pretty sure they are all within your budget - probably with a bit left over for a bag / memory card etc

Thanks guys, the Panasonics do get a good write up...

Any others?

The Fuji bridge cameras are supposed to be quite good, and you might get a good deal with the Fuji refurb site right now with the 15% coupon I posted in the Supplier forum?

However while I know the Fuji S5 Pro like the bag of my hand, I know absolutely nothing about Fuji bridge cameras - have never seen or used one, and I've no idea if any of the S5 Pro "mojo" is in these things...!

The Fuji bridge cameras are indeed excellent value for money, the only real negative is they are generally getting a little long in the tooth now and are lacking some very useful features like IS.
