Looking for a gps enabled camera

Hi, I've just recently started using the camera on the back of my phone (htc desire hd) as I don't currently own a digital camera.
I love the fact that it geotags photos so I can see where I took the shot. But I've come across 2 downfalls:

1) the photos aren't of great clarity - but I expect that due to it being a phone
2) the geo tagging feature (whilst good - isn't always accurate) I went to Thorpe park last week and took photos of some rides. When inspecting them in picasa, the geotagged photos appeared in the residential areas around Thorpe park - nowhere near the rides!

So this leads me onto my question:
Can anyone recommend a good point and shoot camera with a reliable gps unit built in?
I've been looking for about half hour and have seen the panasonic Lumix tz10, which looks quite good. I just want other alternatives to compare with so I can rest assured I end up with a good camera.

One other question, what happens when you take a photo indoors with these cameras? Does it use the last available location as your current location?
Also how quickly do gps enabled cameras acquire their position?

So many questions to ask!

My husband has just bought this, but he got it in the duty-free on his way to Asia and isn't back until next month. If you haven't bought one by then, give me a shout and i'll review the GPS accuracy on it for you

The Leica V Lux 20 has GPS enabling and a good zoom. I decided against this as I can take one with my iPhone and use this to log the location.

If i'm wanting to do this i run a geotracking app on my phone and then had another bit of software on my pc that looked at the time on the photos and added in the gps coordinates after the fact. Its a bit more faff but means you can geotag with ANY camera. As far as i know its still a fairly rare feature on cameras.

Can't remember the name of the software i had to do it (was on an older PC) but it was fairly painless to do.

So you could just get a £100 point and shoot and use your phone + a free/cheap app rather than £200 on a camera with gps built in. Heck, even a £50 2nd hand one!

Another big TZ10 fan here, it's a superzoom and although it does not have the image quality of a DSLR it's a very useful little camera. Just remember to turn the gps off when photographing inside your house is all.

Have been researching and the Fiji ilk f550 exr looks like a really good camera, does anyone know how accurate the gps is and how well it fares on battery?

This requires FPS enabled on the phone which will probably dry out the phone battery in less than am hour :)

I've heard that the GPS eats through the battery on the cameras that have it. Not unsurprisingly. ;)

I'm planning to get one of these GPS Travel Trackers when I go on holiday, and just try and sync the times with the camera. It should be good enough to tell me where I took a pic. ;)
