Hi All,

I use a Canon 30D most of the time, but as I do a lot of walking, I'm starting to find carrying a bulky camera a bit of a bind, especially when the light for taking photos is rarely good enough, and weather even more rarely!

I'm really looking for a good compact that I can keep in my pocket whilst walking, keeping my DSLR in the car for afterwards. I'd like to be able to have some control over settings and such, so not a bog standard compact, but also maybe one that has some weather resistance.

Any recommendations?

Dom

I have a Fujifilm FinePix Z70, managed to get one on eBay for £39.99 manufacturer refurbished - looks brand new. It's excellent as a compact camera I think and has an amazing price.

Just depends what you want in a camera really, but I'd recommend the Z70.

I like FujiFilm when it comes to compacts, they seem to give you a lot for your money.

Canon S90/95/100.

not sure about weather resistance but the Lumix LX3 is a great compact.
nice wide lens & plenty of manual adjustment.
there was one on here at the weekend for £140

Forgot to mention, price limit would be about £100, so that rules out the Canons

Heard really good reviews on the Canon S100, nice and portable and lots of creative control!

My Dad got a refurbed S90 from Canon for not much more than that.

Hi Dom
I recently purchased Canon SX220HS exactly for the same reasons as your self, basically when out walking looking for birds with the big stuff it is in my pocket for landscape stuff as I cannot be bothered to carry extra kit, it will allow some control, exp comp, manual mode etc.
Comet had them for £129 last week

Canon have got a refurb store on eBay. I haven't got the link on my phone, but I'm sure google will bring it up.
