Looking for a flask or food jar.

I'm currently using a Thermos half litre flask with glass vacuum inner. It's ok, keeps food hot for 4-5 hours but it's often longer than that before I can get to it and I just know the glass inner is going to break one day. So... I want something tough and with the best heat retention possible in if possible the food jar type format rather than narrow necked flask. I've seen a Stanley @ £16.99 (or £30 in Tesco!) which by accounts seems to be a good heat retainer but prone to the vacuum failing, there's a cheaper Thermos @ £11.99 with reasonable heat retention but poor build quality. Is there such a thing as a good all round food keeper hotter?

I've seen them recommended elsewhere too, thanks. I'd still like a jar type if I can get one but if the Sigg is as tough as you say it's going to be high on the list. I drove over the last Thermos one I had

Sigg are very overrated and overpriced , not the quality they once were. The last one I bought leaked from a pressing fracture in the base.
Stanley flasks are not cheap but they are bomb proof, I have had the same one for over 25 years and its still going strong.
The food flasks are of the same quality.

Cheers Rob, I read that Stanley service is great but the flasks are very hit and miss, it was seeing one looking big and tough in Tesco that got me started on this, I think Tesco are lining them up for the January sale as their prices are near double Amazons. They get good reviews but also seem to suffer from quite a lot of vacuum failures after a few months, I'm not sure I could be bothered with the hassle of sending it back at my expense to get a replacement.

Rather than a "keeper hotter" is there a possibility of getting a little camping gas type thing and warming the stuff up as you need it?

Ive seen : these : in wilkies for about £10 I think.

I have been using this for the last few month and find it really good. I use it for soup and pasta, I put boiling water into it and leave it in it while I heat my food - about 5 mins. Fill to the top and 4-5 hours the food is still hot/piping. I can eat out of it too as it has a wide neck.

I do have a gas stove and some of the guys use them but I'm not comfortable with cooking in a van cab and again time is an issue.

like everything theres a variation of experience , my last sigg flask survived being run over by a landrover - it was banana shaped but still worked fine. - a colleague of mine once went through four Stanley flasks in two years wich was enough to put me off them for life.
