Hi, I'm new to photography but I really would like to get some action shots of things like downhill, and bmx biking as these are what I do and race, and I would really like to get some action shots of people riding. I'm on a budget of around 250 - 300 and I would like to hear some recommended by some other people.

Thanks, Jack.

P.S: items used for the price(whats around) not what you're selling.

Not meaning to sound negative but you maybe struggling on that budget. A decent 70-300mm lens can easily set you back upto your budget which of course wouldn't work to well without a camera, obviously this depends on how close you can get to your anticipated subjects.

Although I dislike filters personally if theres a chance of stones/muck flying up towards your lens you may want a good filter as well to offer some protection to the front elements...

Firstly welcome to TP .

The best bit of advice is to go and have a hold of some cameras and get a feel for what you like and what feels right. Once you know what brand is your prefered choice then you can look and see what is available.

For your budget you will have to be looking at s/h and I would guess that you would be looking at things like the Nikon D40/x/60 range or one of the older ones like the D50/70. For Canon you will probably be looking at the 350/400d. Most of these can be had with a kit lens for that kind of price so keep a look out in the classifieds on here. Don't also forget the others such as the sony and pentax ranges.

Remember that you will also need to cost in buying a bag, memory cards, tripod(?), spare batteries etc unless you can find a decent bundle going somewhere. Once you have got a basic set up then you can look at what other zoom/ wide angle options you need to cover.

Hope this helps.

Nick

you could pick a D70 up with 18-70mm lens for around £250, great camera and lens combo..

Thanks guys, I went out and had a look in a camera store at different ones and I quite liked the Olympus E-410, So when I got home I went on ebay and bought one with 2 lenses, two batteries, a charger, and a bag for 240 so I'm sorted now. :)

Cheers, Jack.

Hey,

First of all any 2nd hand body like the 20D, 350D maybe a 400D and a 18-55 kit lens plus a 75-300 lens and you could be set for £300.

I know as ive sold all the above for below that price and that was going rate ..

its easily done mate :)
