I have recently bought the nikon 55-200 but I am now looking at a tamron 70-300. My question is, what kind of results will this get me and, would it be worth keeping the 55-200 or would it be a waste as the 70-300 would do its job?

Thanks

neither are amazing lenses, i had a tamron 70-300 on my old pentax and it was pretty good for my uses. but my tamron 55-200mm on the canon was totaly pants.

if you are getting the 70-300 ditch the 55-200.

Sold my kit 55-200 on ebay (£100) to fund upgrade to 70-300 VR. well worth it, its a fantastic lens it blows the kit lens away:thumbs:

Looking at the Nikon 70-300 there is around a £200 price difference between that and the sigma/tamron version. Is there much to warrant this?

Can anyone also give me a photo taken using a 70-300?

Thanks

try this link to a flckr group for the nikon lens.

can't say much about the tamron/sigma, I was recommended the nikon for motor sport by a pro tog. Haven't had chance to test lens too much yet, only had it about 6 weeks but I will say at 300mm the VR is supurb.

Thanks, will have a look at that.

Im aware that the Nikon will be MUCH better, but on a budget the sigma/tamron is my only option!!

Yes budget is a down side we all have one and their never big enough. From alot of research before I chose the nikon most reviews say Tamron has the better optics than sigma but sigmas HSM if quicker and quieter than the tamron. As a relative noobie I don't know if I would spot the difference if each lens took the same shot. Good luck with which ever you choose.

considering budget is a factor defo sell it ;)
I have a tamron 70-300 for saleright now but its canon :(
