One major advantage of film (as far as i can tell) is its near immunity to dust compared to digital. Ok dust gets on the mirror, but is easily dealt with.
Marks on the focusing screen can be a real pain; even Miles Whitehead [EDIT:]couldn't safely get all the marks off the screen on my MX.
But... I noticed that one of the outback shots I posted on the Kodachrome/Ektachrome thread had 114 retouch actions... after using a masked infrared scan. I've found dust on old slides (aprticularly ones that were projected quite a few times, back in the day) to be a significant problem. And quite a few negatives have suffered scratches over the years.
Scanning straight after processing does tend to reduce the impact of either of these issues... apart from the general Hooley tendency, of course!
