I have a Canon 5d MK II and 580 EXII flash gun. I am still learning the ropes of flash photography and its potential.
However, I read about people doing long exposure with flash guns and wondered how this is possible. Of course use bulb mode on the camera for the exposure, but at same time I've read how people 'fire' the flash gun multiple times during the long exposure to illuminate multiple areas for example.
How is this possible without pressing the shutter button, is there a button on the flash and does it have to be connected to the camera for it to do this technique.
Thanks for advice.
