If you intend on using transport in London again in the future, get one. I bought one on my second trip there and it paid for itself in two days. Since then I've used it half-a-dozen more times and I'm glad I got one at the start of my travels to London.
Yep, get an Oyster card. If you are using the tube - ALWAYS Place/Swipe your card at the beginning and end of your journey, even if the gate/barriers are open, or your card will be charged extra.
Yes. The credit doesn't expire, so you can use it on your next visit. Just register the card and top it up online if necessary. Far more convenient - saves queuing for a ticket at busy times. - and much cheaper than paying the normal fares
