London Street Photography at Night

Heading to London on Saturday and obviously this time of year the days are very short so I'll be trying some street photography in the dark with my new Canon 6D.

I'd like some locations for where are the best places to shoot around Central London at night for street photography. Also some tips for shooting street with little light.

Around Tower Bridge and the South Bank are pretty good! There's usually plenty of people around and plenty of space to work in. I don't really think too much about shooting any differently at night or in low light than I do during the day, I just crank the ISO as much as I need to get a quick enough shutter speed with the lens wide open (I use a 24-105L) and off I go.

You've just reminded me how much I miss London, I'm long overdue a trip down there!
 
The eastern end of Smithfield for some very old buildings and street lights.

Regent Street/Piccadilly for shoppers and lights, then China Town.

BUT...watch yourself. Plenty of scum-bags around, especially where there are crowds. be good if you have someone with you to watch your back.

Not trying to worry you, but I'm a Londoner and know it only too well.

I like China Town,i need to head that way again soon,need to check out some cheap fares :)

Also been taking a few in my city,bump my iso on my XE-2 1600 & 6400

It'll be my first time around at this time of the year so thanks for the heads up. I'm generally quite aware of things while in London because at any time of the year you don't know who is about!

Yeah China Town was on my list. I'm going because I caught the Virgin first class ticket sale so traveling in style down from Coventry! 
 
Everywhere has christmas lights up now and the christmas tree in Trafalgar sq is going up this week and being lit on Thursday.

The South Bank has a Christmas Market, with food and gift stalls, along with strolling santa(s).

And then there's the main shopping areas of Oxford, Regents, and Carnaby St.

Also Eros has been turning into a giant snow globe.
