London - favorite photographic locations??

I live in London and have lived here all my life - and here starts the problem!

London is the kind of place with limitless opportunities for photography right?

It doesn't feel like it a lot of the time... and so I ask, are there any less obvious locations any of you can recommend for photographical interest? My main area of interest is landscape.

I'm familiar with the obvious locations in West and North London and so I'm particularly thinking about areas of interest in the East or South.
I don't drive so anywhere which is accessible by tube/dlr is best.... thanks!
 
If you search the site for "London locations" a few good threads come up. I was pretty much the same about London having lived here most of my life (never saw Big Ben in the flesh til I was 21:eek:), but I know East and North pretty well now.

I will be going down to Waterloo bridge one evening pretty soon as I went over it the other night while at work and the view is pretty special. :thumbs:
 
Bit of a cliche but south bank on the weekend with all the skaters doing jumps and people waking about. It's not landscape though. Keen to see what this thread throws out.
 
Try Blackheath, as you also have Greenwich Park, with all that that holds over the far side of the heath. A picturesque All Saints church on the corner of the heath by Blackheath village. In fact I might well take myself off there for a visit soon.
 
Richmond Park? You get deer too! Also highgate cemetery up in north London is well worth visiting.
 
I like the Barbican estate for its moody walkways, the back streets of clerkenwell/Farringdon/Hoxton, and Borough.
 
Southbank, all the way from the Eye to Borough Market way is good.
Camden market is fun.
 
Greenwich park, next to the observatory. The bank drops away steeply to give awesome views of the naval college, canary wharf and the city. Will look awesome on the telly for the Olympics - shame they'll trash the park doing so.

Nice view of St Paul's (etc) from the Tate Modern's roof terrace.

Hayward gallery (South Bank next to Royal Festival Hall) might be good for architectural stuff if you like brutalist architecture.

London eye at night for a cheesy, passé, but guilty-pleasure crowd-pleasing shot.

And don't forget the museums/train stations. Natural History Museum and St Pancras (the old bit) are beautiful in my opinion.
 
Battersea power station is pretty epic in moody lighting/clouds.
 
Another vote for Borough market, early morning as they are setting up. Also Leadenhall market, the older stations, night shots along the South bank of the Thames, St Katharine's dock, Canary Wharf.
Pick your subject and have in mind what you want to achieve from the shots.

I'm just about to move to east london, right opposite the Olympic stadium. There are some interesting shots to be had around there right now, especially at night as they're starting to light up the stadium (doesn't seem to be every night though, not sure what the logic is!) and over towards the new Westfield stratford etc. Get the new overground to Hackney Wick and have a wander, you want to keep the river lea between you and the stadium to get nice reflections!

i also never tire of shooting london bridge at night (massive cliche i know), if you go up to the high floor bar of that hotel on st kat's dock (guoman tower?) the view is amazing.

I assume you mean Tower Bridge, not London Bridge? :)
 
I like China Town and Shoreditch.

Also the area of Aldgate is nice for street photography. The Aldgate tube station is a nice location
 
Hi. You've got the Thames Barrier and Canary Wharf. They are digging up the lawn around the London Eye, not so nice to look at until they finish messing about with it.
I like Brick Lane too.
 
Close ish to Carols Thames barrier

Beckton Hill, or Beckton ski slope as it used to be known, close the the Junction of the A13 and High street south E6 I think. It has a high view across Beckton roofs onto the towers of Canary Wharf and the Dome.( similar in scape to primrose Hill ...looks good all lit up at night etc. ...not that pretty a foreground, ugly i fact, but you can see most of East London and the city in the far distance.

Also between the Barrier and Beckton Hill lays City airport and several huge filled docks, some now Mariners, there are several fun and vast views to be had walking from the various crossing bridges from the far end of the airstrip, across to Silver Town, the Expo Centre, and a similar feel to the Docklands, which lays a short walk across the loop of Bow Creek...which is also exciting to explore.
