Yes
so.... Im trying to find a restaurant, quite fancy one ( with good food ofc;p ) that I could take my friends for a dinner . this is supposed to be a wedding present as I could not go to their wedding earlier this year:)
I had a look on the net but there are just too many of them...I was thinking about Southbank(but anywhere would do) but I would say that not all restaurants have their web pages :)
Any suggestions ?
lets say my budget is around 250pounds for 4...
Thanks for all the advice :0

Lunch or Dinner?

What type of food / cuisine were you looking for?

More like dinner...some food with drinks ( wine etc...vodka for me ;) :)cousine? hmm I would say european:)

My fav. in London is a Chinese .. Kai, don't know a web site for it though. I can give you the address and no. if you so wish.

If thats a restaurant and not a 'fast food' type place then yes please:)
as long as I can use fork over there haha
Thank you so much:)

How about having a look on lastminute.com for some restaurants? Once found restaurant to take a girl from work on our first date. Scored well with her on kudos stakes!

Oh yes, it is a restaurant, not at all fast food. Very formal and very exclusive. You will need to book well in advance this time of the year.

They are located in 65 South Audley Street, London, W1K 2QU, Mayfiar, 020 7493 8988 ... http://www.kaimayfair.co.uk/kai/kaihome.htm

I've been going to Kai since the 1980s, they've maintained - if not improved - their place. If anything, they are nothing less than 5stars.

There is also a Polynesian restaurant in the Park Lane Hilton (Trader Vics) ... London Hilton, 22 Park Lane, London, W1K 1PN, 020 72084113 ... http://www.tradervics.com/

Again, I've been going there since the 1980s .. and have gone to their other places all over the world.

in advance you say....i need the place for this saturday...ok maybe next one would be still fine but im going away for a while so this saturday would be the best:) ...will give them a call tomorrow;)

Give them a call, you never know . A couple of months ago, I called them while on the train coming into London and managed to book a table for a party of four.

Even the busiest of places .. last week I wanted to have afternoon tea at the Ritz and was told there is a 4 months waiting list  ... may accommodate you if things go in your favour! Never hurts to call and see.

Kai are just wonderful ... they have a mushroom dish (orgy of mushrooms) that's a must try. Shark-fin soup, you need to book for this at least one week in advance (£100 a dish) ;). This is a place for fine-dining :).

its not in central london its in chiswick, but i've lived in london a long time and this is the best food i've ever tasted.
being a gordon ramsey place i really wanted to hate it, but the food was so close to perfect that i cant rate it high enough.

3 course meal for 2 was about 70 quid if i remember correctly, so keep the change and dont waste the money on some poncey place with crap food!

well if you want decent food you have to eat FRENCH!! Try Le Pont de la Tour, Butlers Wharf. Foods just divine

Benihana. chinesey type food but they cook it in front of you on one of those big hot-plate type tables...its entertaining and tasty.

thank you for all the advice :)
I choose www.tradervics.com but they came with other restaurant.
The Knaypa
Its a polish restaurant.
Its in west london and we live in east so it took us over 1 hour one way to get there....but it was bloody worth it :)
At the beginning I was bit anxious ( dont know if thats the right word to use ;) ) as I know how Polish food tastes and I was not expecting anything special(I worked in a restaurant in Poland few years ago as well)
But I was really amazed :) Speccialy with roasted pork shank in mustard sauce :) for me perfect :)

:)

Glad it went well, choosing a restaurant is a very personal and an acquired taste; and thank you for the link to The Knaypa, I will be sure to give it a try next time I am in London.

At least you didn't make the mistake of eating in Skylon like I did. Never going to get that evening of my life back, never going to get it back...

Cheers,
James
