can anyone tell me what these are like to deal with, there is a store in reading i might go visit in the morning after my nightshift, what are they like for doing deals and price wise is it worth haggling with them at all?
 
Not sure about instore but bought a flash via them on the phone and the service was very good. The price was fixed but was a good price for the item.
 
I can only comment to the quality in the Exeter store, but that was a bit hit and miss... one guy was fantastic, the other was a complete muppet that rather offended me on several occasions.
 
The one in Nottingham is fantastic, all the staff are useful and friendly. It is my preferred photographic store to frequent, far better and insightful than Jessops and Jacobs.

Indeed, I've bought from them myself in the past, but not since my last experience.
I sold a lens, mint; realising that I could get more on e-bay, but not wanting the trouble. Couldn't get them to raise above £190, sold anyway; expecting they would slap another £50 on it and stick it in the window.
In fact they put it on sale for £399. Yeah, I know, more fool me. But still, made me think of them as 'sharp'.
 
Always checking their page, sometimes you can get really good deals. Sometimes im even visiting london one, *** they dont have a time to update their stock online. After last few visits i know that there's no point to ask staff smth, its better to google when you are in the shop. I found once a trigger Youngnuo one. Price was like four times less then ebay, but the guy was telling its that this is genuine, and youngnuo its a part of a nikon. Didnt want to teach staff so kept my lips closed. Next time i got there i heard a strange conversation. Im not in to canon, but what is Difference between IS and IS USM i can imagine, but the same member of staff was saying that is the same image stabilization but new version. I saw the big questions in clients face "so why the hell then USM its so expensive"
So if you know what you want, go for it! And maybe other guys there know what they are saying.
 
Well I went into the reading store and they couldn't even price match jessops let alone beat them on a d3100 and kit lens which pretty much surprised me
 
I may be wrong, but pretty sure they are a franchise................. and as such some are good some are bad. (Only reason I say that was trying to get something from another store delivered to Norwich so could take a look at it before purchasing and they wouldn't - and then sure I read after that franchised)

Generally prices are fixed and for s/h stuff I personally think that usually they are quite expensive....
 
I bought my Nikon body from the Strand store, and had an excellent experience. After I described what sort of photography I was interested in they encouraged me to get a cheaper body and gave me a very good price.
 
We have 2 in southampton, and the smaller shop offers the better service, faultless and always beat any deal i find that i could go and pick up today. Excellent people to deal with.
 
Always found the one in Manchester great to deal with, they even know what they are talking about.
 
I went to buy 2 L lenses with £2000 cash in my pocket. I asked what the best price for cash was and ended up with a £35 discount and a couple of filters extra in my pocket. At another time I was looking for a very large bag and although they didn't have one in stock they searched the web for the best place to get it. Very good service and very helpful.
