Nothing like that, I actually have a proper bed....
Rhubarb. Go on, you lot grow the best rhubarb in that triangle so explain how gravy improves it without attempting to pass off custard as a form of gravy.

I have no argument regarding bacon. Obviously.

Rhubarb is disgusting so adding gravy (which is lovely) can only improve it. I think everyone agrees about bacon. ;)

Would it be possible to bring one or two medium format cameras along please? I would like to get one but have no idea how they work or the different types. I don't think I've even held one (although I do have an old Kodak Brownie Cresta if that counts :)) At the very least I could get a better understanding of them.

Is there a type you're most interested in? Or shall we just bring a variety?

Just a variety would be good please. If I were getting one I'd probably start fairly cheap but just to see the different types and how they work would be a good start for a MF virgin.

No problem, I'm sure between us we should have most types covered.

Sadly won't be able to make it down for this, booked on some expensive science toys that I can't reschedule :( Maybe next time though.

Yup

TBH I wouldn't know where to start looking for decent continental lager in London I only ever drink continental lager when on the continent where they seem to know what they're doing.

But since decent continental lager and and 'proper' beer are very rarely found in the same establishments I'll stick hostelries that are purveyors of fine bitter.

Although I do know one but that's in Isleworth and may be a little out of the way for some people.

I'm not sure what the bitter situation is but the Tattershall Castle at Embankment is a fine spot if the weather's nice. Can't beat sitting on top of a boat on the Thames with a beer!

Indeed, it is a fine spot but as far as decent beer goes it ranks a little lower than a 1970's Whitbread pub. I have narrowed it down to a few pubs and the choice is partly dependent on numbers. I know some great pubs but we'll struggle to get more than four of us in the bar, others are a little off the beaten track.

Does anyone have a Fuji 645 MF camera they could bring along? I've been reading some reviews and it looks like a really nice camera to use when travelling.

Cheers

Great - thanks, Nick. I'm interested in MF in general so hope others will bring theirs. I have a 1950's Kodak Brownie but obviously it's no where near as good as other MF cameras.

Wow Nick you have 2 Fuji 645's.....

I should hopefully have stolen The Hooley's Fuji 690 (like a 645 that's eaten too many pies) again by then so will be bringing that along, I would bring the RB67 but it's a bit of a lump to carry round all day as I'm heading down and back in one day!

Are you sure you're not actually a secret northerner? With this love of flat warm beer I'm expecting to see whippets and flat caps!

I'm afraid since my OM-1n is at repair all I have is my humble Olympus Trip - not much to show next to all the great cameras you folks will be bringing.

As a Bronny is an inexpensive way into MF - so could be a realistic option for SJ - I could fetch that if nobody else is already.
Anybody interested in reviewing a Hassy 203FE or a Contax 645?
I'd like to play with a Fuji 617 if there is an owner amongst us

Thanks John - never seen one in the flesh let alone tried one so that will be great :)

I am going tone very interested to see what people are bring, as I want a full MF system to complement my TLR

A bronny gs1 is a lovely bit of MF kit.......there may be one in the classifieds, possibly, maybe......

almost missed that one too ....
:)

Any preferences on hostelry for next Monday evening?
2 proposals from me :
- Hoop and Grapes in Aldgate (EC3N 1AL). Beer is ok and has tables in front 'bay window' to easily seat up to 9 peeps
- Or award winning The Old Fountain (EC1V 9NU) nr Old St which may be busier

The Aldgate location is much better for me - Old Street would be a bit of a trek.

What time are we thinking of? I finish work at 4.30 btw :D

Aldgate and Old Street are about the same for me coming in from Dorking. Based on finishing at 5pm, I should be able to get to most places in the City by 6.30. :)

This, coming up from sunny Croydon!

Just look for the lost tall man entering the pub around then...

I was thinking somewhere more central, aldgate is the wrong side from where I m working.

So it'll be be the Ship & Shovel underneath Charing X

I'll post up directions when I've got proper t'interweb access.

Oops double post.

Funnily enough, I should be able to get to Charing Cross by half six as well :)
