In response to southernjessie's post here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/threads/medium-format-starter.539942/#post-6232412 wanting to get a closer look at some medium format gear.

So I'm thinking a trial evening get together to see if there's much interest, so I suggest a Central London meet in a suitable hostelry for a bit of film and conventional chat and a few beers.

If there's enough response I'll line up some days and find a suitably spacious public house. We may even manage to get Roberts out of the fusty f&c dungeon to serve canapes or pies.

It's likely that the pub will be fairly central, but I'm open to suggestions of places that serve 'proper' beer and obviously don't get too busy early on in the week.

6:30 at the Ship & Shovel which is below Charing Cross station http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/86/864/Ship_and_Shovell/Charing_Cross

Can you and TCMS make a weekend trip to Arundel?

It's possible, just depends when, we have a full and quite giddy social timetable over the next few months, mainly due to me being so popular and handsome....

Great idea Nick - I'm able to make Monday or Wednesday during the week so would definitely like to meet up.

Also a weekend GTG might be a possibility

Well I'm still dreaming of a sunny ride to Arundel on a motorbike...but the repair shop say they are have a problem getting spare parts h'mm it's coming up for 3 months they have had the bike and wonder what happens if a garage can't fix a motorcycle (or car) and money has already been spent on some parts and of course labour costs so far.

So handsome and popular some unscrupulous fairground types have been a bit free with your likeness on their rides, Dean snapped this recently and I was staggered at the similarity  https://www.flickr.com/photos/strappster/14001945946/

I'm working in Dorking at the moment so a trip into the city one evening would be pretty straightforward. :)

And I'd like to stress that I didn't notice the similarity between the clown and my photograph* until Nick pointed it out. I've got a shot of Andy from the Westonbirt meet that I'll post up for a side-by-side comparison, assuming I can get my scanner to scan Agfa Prescia without thinking that every other pixel should be bright white.

* Badumtish.

I don't look anything like a tiger.... fools....:D

Since I now have a job where I am not working every weekend I would also be up for a weekend meet down in that there London over the summer. We're getting one of those couples railcard things so it should be cheaper and my girlfriend is finally getting an interest in film so she hopefully wouldn't be bored!

Come on then Brian, get them to pull their finger out and get your bike sorted, otherwise the summer will have gone and your bike will still be in bits on a bench,

Well it must be frustrating for you too waiting to handle and take a few shots with my T70 :D

I'd be up for something like this! I work right next to the Barbican, lots of good pubs round there... ;)

Does anyone have any dates in mind for a London mid-week meet up?
I was just thinking about this.

So how's everybody fixed for Monday 19th May? I'll find a venue soon but it will be central.

That works for me, although last time I went to the pub on a Monday night, the following week was painful...
It's only painful if you stop drinking ;)

Monday 19th should be good for me, although I'm not a big drinker at all so it'll be cameras on the menu :D

Is it looking like the Monday then? If so I'll check out some travel options! I may have to break the rules and bring a digital as I'll be spending the full day round the city shooting, criminal I know... :p

Count me in, it'll be better than the Monday evening commute :)
Definitely Monday 19th Pub to be confirmed but it will be a proper pub that sells proper beer

Is this a bad time to say I'm one of those poncy premium continental lager-type people?
Yup

TBH I wouldn't know where to start looking for decent continental lager in London I only ever drink continental lager when on the continent where they seem to know what they're doing.

But since decent continental lager and and 'proper' beer are very rarely found in the same establishments I'll stick hostelries that are purveyors of fine bitter.

Although I do know one but that's in Isleworth and may be a little out of the way for some people.

You sir, have too much time on your hands.

True, I must get on with some important safety work.....Oh, wait! everything is safe... feet up and a brew then.

Hmm, sounding like a plan ...

... until this bit ...

Gravy on a pie is fine. Chips and a pie is fine. Chips, pie and gravy is heathen nonsense and shouldn't be condoned by right-thinking men.

There are two things in the world that make everything better, they are bacon and gravy and its only southern jessies who think otherwise. :D

Rhubarb. Go on, you lot grow the best rhubarb in that triangle so explain how gravy improves it without attempting to pass off custard as a form of gravy.

I have no argument regarding bacon. Obviously.

I'm in London that weekend at Photographica and staying til Tues so might tag along to this depending on what my brother is doing on the Monday (as I'm stopping at his). Will keep an eye on the venue and hopefully pop along even if it's just for one or two :)
