I'd like to try out some carbon fibre tripods with my gear in place to check stability etc.
The Jacobs and Jessops near me in Kingston were pitiful in the stock they carried, particularly in the Gitzos range.
I'd be grateful for recommendations for a retail shop that may carry decent stock.

There are hundreds at Tottenham Court Road.

Jacobs in New Oxford Street have a pretty large/good selection of both tripods and monopods when last I frequented them (a couple of weeks back).

Thanks for the tips people.
The Teddington shop has zilch in the way of CF tripods. I have used them for film stuff though for which they derserve a mention.
I'll nip up to the West End, cheers.

CameraWorld might be able to help you out.

Good shop IME. They're on Wells Street near Oxford Circus.

You're right about Kingston Jessops. They used to have a decent selection of tripods three or four years ago. I was rather shocked the last time I went in there about six months ago - it was so bare of any kit of any kind on display that I was almost given the impression they were closing down.

I can't be certain but I thought the Kingston Jessops was much bgger than it is now. About the same size as the current shop and Jacobs right next door combined :suspect:

There's quite a few near the British Museum, not sure which brands they stock but worth checking online first maybe before you go.

It used to be a double unit with the floor higher on one side than the other. I certainly didn't remember Jacobs being next door.

Maybe it's longer than six months since I've been there? :suspect:

Youre right, the Jessops shop has reduced in size and it's quite possible that Jacobs took the empty space.
Jessops now seems to have more space given over to P&S but Jacobs seem to have a massive selection of gear and accessories.
However, on the 2 occasions I've been in there the staff have been clueless about the product on display.

I hope it improves as retail shops with lots of gear in the suburbs are rarer than hens teeth.

Finished up in Microglobe. Good range of Benro tripods and very helpful.
Cameraworld were closed and neither Jacobs nor Jessops showed any inclination to serve me, unbelievable really.

Thanks for the recommendations anyway:thumbs:
