No
It's slightly complex, and a bit more pricey than a standard developing tank, but it looks like a good solution for people who have problems with loading film into tanks in a changing bag.

I'll stick with my changing bag as I'm comfortable with that process, but this would be useful if you ever needed to develop film "on the road" or something.

It looks interesting, but possibly more fiddly than the Lab Box.

Good grief. I had to stop watching halfway through. What a frustrating video - what's wrong with some dialogue instead of subtitles and 'pointing'?

Talk about making an easy job (after a little practice) more complex - I'll stick to Paterson and Jobo tanks. :coat:

I still like the idea and if it gets more folks into home developing that good thing.

No mention of any rinsing between stages and the "finished" film looked surprisingly dry and undeveloped.

I'm one of those who have manual dexterity problems, so I guess I am part of the target market. I use a Rondinax 35 and a Lab-box. The latter has modules for 135 and 120, but I leave it set up for 120 and use the Rondinax for my 135.

Both the Lab-box and the Rondinax would leave the Lomo box in the dust for simplicity of use. It was going fine (if a bit complex) until we got to the inversions bit. Imagine disassembling that metal thingy to get the chems out at the required dev time!

One advantage I saw compared with my Rondinax is that the guillotine is internal, so cannot leak light. I have to wind on my film with a dark cloth over the tank to avoid light leaks coming up the guillotine slot! The Rondinax loads film onto the reel about 10 times faster than the Lomo!

BTW watch out with polyester film. My Rondinax guillotine won't cut it, which is a PITA. Have to go into the dark bag, open up and cut with scissors, hoping I don't displace too much from the reel. So I avoid polyester-based film. The Lab-box guillotine feels sharper, so might be fine, but I haven't tried it.

So, it looked neat but, um, no!

I sort of liked the concept. I really struggled getting a film on a reel in a dark bag when I was doing my first film(s) so anything that made it easier would have been attractive. If I'd seen this at that point I may have bought one. In that respect it looks ok.

However I stuck it out and got better. Plus I built a darkroom so I never have to deal with a dark bag again.
