Does anyone feel totally ****** off at the amount of convoluted logins you have these days what with all these websites we register to?

Case in point for me is flickr; now, I quite like the idea of flickr, especially the whole showcasing you work to the world thing, but the fact i have to join Yahoo annoys me - why can't there just be a flickr login? Obviously yahoo wants people to join up to yahoo before they move onto other sites but it's just complicated - for one, you have to enter a bloody long id and then you have to remember it. I've gone an lost mine, couldn't get into my flickr account for love nor money, so then set up another flickr account... and than i've lost that too!! Yahoo is taking ages to get my details back to me - if it can find them - so I'm in limbo at the moment.

I'm just plain annoyed :bang:

I know security is paramount and I'd probably feel different if my account was hacked, but today I just wish all log-ins were simple....:'(

If you've got a mac, get some software called 1password.

If you haven't, get a mac, then go to step 1 :p

Or you could have a nice unique name like me and use that as a login everywhere :D

Got a mac so will source that out Marcel - thanks for the heads up...

... shall crack this password mallarky ;)

Anything that does not involve money I let firefox remember and use password exporter to back them up. More important ones I keep a paper folder with reminders that mean something to me but don't have the actual passwords written down.

i used to use firefox but the upadates made it slow down sometimes altough i though it was good all my pc based computers now run safari i find it easier

i wish Flickr let you choose which email address you want to use for your login. i only have a Yahoo account for Flickr :|

For most things, I keep the same login and password - what's the worst someone could do to me on a forum? Get me banned? I don't do internet banking and have a good hiding place for passwords to accounts at the few shops I had to register with. I used to use different logins and have strong passwords but my memory is so carp that I ended up having a few accounts at places and couldn't remember any of the passwords! (On at least one site, I can't even remember which e-mail addy I used so can't even get a reminder!)

Thats the same reason I didn't join flickr..

I use 9 different passwords for websites, I remember them all - I have no backup though so if I ever hit my head and get amnesia - I'm ****ed.

Sorted - managed to get hold of my original flickr account details after god knows how many tries. Can now start updating my photostream....

Email accounts should be well protected as well, because a common trick is to get into the email account and reset everything, which goes back to that account.....
