Locked keyboard on Toshiba L100 laptop - argghhhh!

Bought this old laptop on here recently and somehow the keyboard has been locked. There is a little light at the top that seems to indicate a locked keyboard too (next to the caps lock indicator). An external USB keyboard works fine, but kind of defeats the purpose of a laptop!

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Not sure whether this is any use, but on most laptops, if you press FN & F7, it locks the touchpad, so there may be another key combination to unlock the keyboard?

so itll be FN and something.. google couldnt tell me what though, maybe an F key look for a corresponding symbol to the light.

Thanks, tried all combinations I could think of without luck. Also worth noting that the usual combos (e.g. increase/decrease brightness) don't work as the keyboard is disabled ... :shrug:

I'd have said you need to download the HotKey utility from Toshiba's website then, if the brightness etc aren't working either, as they control the buttons usually

Thanks, but I think the reason the hotkeys aren't working is the same reason that all the other keys on the keyboard aren't - i.e. it's locked.

But I'll take a look and maybe try that if a definitive answer doesn't appear by the end of the day

We've had a problem with one in work where in the bios it can be set to "disable onboard keyboard when usb one connected" for some reason this can stay on even when no usb keyboard is connected.

You could try a usb keyboard and go into the bios and have a look around (assuming you haven't already)

Thanks, that's a good idea. I haven't actually looked in the bios yet. Will go do that now
