Yes
I bought a couple of Sandisk Extreme Pro 200MB 128GB for my Lumix cameras, I put one in the camera and it said the card was locked non-writable etc
Then I saw the little grey slider on the side and realised I had to move it to unlock the card. I've never had ones like that before, I didn't know they existed :ROFLMAO:

It always amazes a caveman like me, that 800 photos can be saved on a sliver of plastic, removed and replaced over and over, and now I find they can even have their own sliding mechanism if you want to lock them up !

I've never used the lock !

However I have often had to put a tiny drop of superglue on it to stop it being pushed into the lock position when putting the card into the camera, or putting a piece of sticky tape over the gap where the lock slider has fallen out. (haven't had to do that for a while, and I have a feeling it would make the card too thick to go in modern cameras)

Ever since I was forced to use an SD card I have seen that they could be locked but I thought that was a facility to stop them being accidentally wiped (I still prefer Compact Flash) because they are bigger to hold and handle but have you seen the price of them these days?

Don't they all have a lock?

In my experience, Yes.
Time to bow my head and shuffle back to the confessional box. All my cards have the lock slider, I never knew what it was :ROFLMAO:

When I looked at the old cards earlier the penny dropped and I remembered noticing the grey bit before, but never knew it had a purpose and had forgot it was there. If one of the new cards hadn't been locked I would still be none the wiser.

Are you me? That's exactly the sort of thing I'd do! :)

I had that issue with a Lexar card. Annoyingly I'd bought two of them and they both had this issue. I think I threw one away in disgust, but at some point I contacted Lexar and they replaced the other one for me. Unfortunately and understandably, they wouldn't replace the one I couldn't find although I had the receipt. The customer service was excellent so I wouldn't hesitate to buy Lexar cards again. They had a lifetime guarantee on them.
