As the title says, can anyone suggest some good spots in Havant or around the Portsmouth area for some night photography. Tunnels/train graveyards would be ideal.

Mods, please move if needs be-wasn't too sure where to post.

Gunwharf might be worth a wonder around at night with the spinnaker and all the bars.

It's been over 10 years since I lived in Portsmouth, but I always found the old Portsmouth/spice island part of pompey very photogenic.

Thanks iam after more places that are very dark, alley ways parks etc

Anyone know of any multi-story car parks that can be used at night?

What about the church with no roof right by the sea front, i bet that could make for some interesting photos on a star filled night

I would be very interested to see your results. I like night photography but when wandering about in the dark, I am always worried about bumping into wierdo's.

Ah, that's Portsmouth for you!!

try going up the tower and shooting through the glass floor. also i have seen some fantastic nigth shots of it.

ibn the summer in Poole there are motocycle rallys on the harbour front.

Not sure if it's the sort of thing you'd be looking for and you'd have to go and scout the location during the daylight (it's VERY dark at night) but I'd suggest Hilsea Lines, specifically around Scott Road where there's a tunnel that goes right through.

There's surprisingly little at the moody end of the spectrum.

Hilsea Lines as has been suggested, and you could try accessing the derelict Greyhound Stadium and landing craft nearby.

Some of the staircases and alleyways around the Civic Offices give off quite a wrong-part-of-town vibe but there's usually heavy police presence on account of all the drunk students, at least some of whom are known to take a **** in the very dark corners you'd want to be shooting.

Other than that, there's pockets of darkness around the city with no particular vibe, and short tunnels at varying distances off the island. Not posting the location here though - PM me.

Around Fratton, the footy ground has some dark alleyways around it

Cheers, great idea.

Lovely shot, what church is this?

Exactly - as first mentioned by spoony. If you look on google maps it's at the SW end of Pembroke Road, Old Portsmouth.

I walked passed it today as we went for a wonder along the front, think I might take a drive down one evening as see what I can get.

I like the star trails and want to give it a bash myself.
