OK, tomorrow I'm off for a week in Northumberland - staying just inland from the Holy Island causeway.

I've got ideas for the obvious places to visit - holy island, farne island puffin colonies, the coastal castles...

Are there any other top photographic spots (mainly landscapes...) that I would be a fool to miss?

thanks :D

Get down to Alnwick - great Castle and also Sea Houses - good for Fish & Chips too :)

I don't know that area very well, but if you need a suggestion for a few hours on a wet day there's an incredible bookshop in the old railway station in Alnwick.

There's a trainset which runs all around one of the larger rooms on top of the bookshelves. :cuckoo: It's the room with features 3 - 9 in the plan here:

Actually, the owners were quite laid back about my taking photos inside the bookshop, though I didn't have a tripod with me so they didn't come out too well. You can have quite a bit of fun "stalking" the trains. There are two locos, one running clockwise and the other anti-clockwise.

There are real fires in cold weather and coffee with home-made biscuits and things too.

You could go to the mining museum at woodhorn, it's free, very new and very interesting.

Have a look at Hadrians wall, Kielder , Noth Tyne Vally,
Some good locations at all of these, but you will put
some miles on the clock,:)

Thanks for your ideas all - much appriciated!

Back in a week to share some photos :D
