Got a business trip to Croatia tomorrow, I normally fly in and out of Split. However on this occasion I am flying to Dubrovnik and taking a car up to Split along the coast road.

I will have plenty of time to stop and take some photographs both to Split and on my return to Dubrovnik...I am looking for recommendations for not to miss locations. I don't have endless amounts of time so it would be good to go to places rather than trying to find them.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Cheers....kevin.

I don't have any suggestions, just wanted to say I expect pictures on your return!

I'd imagine Dubrovnik alone is full of opportunities, certainly from some of the travel books/sites I've seen the place is lovely. Can't help more than that though I'm afraid, sorry :(

I won't have any time in Split, just shooting in for a meeting and back out again, I will however have an evening and morning in Dubrovnik which I believe is stunning.

Only problem is 18mm (27 DX) is as wide as I can go with my 18 - 70, I will see what I can do...

Cheers

I've shot plenty of landscape stuff at 17mm on my 17-55, I'm sure you'll get some cracking shots. God, I wish I was going

I went there years ago 1988 i think so nearly 21 years ago

Dubrovnik is a wonderful place, which i am sure you will enjoy.
Loads of photo opportunities.

Try and walk around the old wall which surrounds the city , great views of the old town from here.

Here's a few shots i've dug out from that trip . ... all scans of 35mm slides and taken with an Olympus OM2, which served me well for many years.

I must go back sometime.

Enjoy your trip and be sure to post some photos when you return.

Thanks hometown38

Stunning shots...

Where was the 2nd one taken, can you recall the location of the high ground?

88 just before the war, so it was yugoslavia then!

Lovely country I have been traveling there for 3 years now mainly Zagreb and Split never been down the southern part.

Yes it was Yugoslavia then , as you quite rightly say and yes just before the war, during which Dubrovnik was quite badly damaged but i believe it has all been restored now.

I can't remember the location of the second one but obviously it was taken from high up in the hills overlooking the town , i think i probably took a taxi up there , sorry i can't be of more help. Those were taken in August and it was boiling hot.

Thanks freester

Some great shots you have love them all, hope I can get close to them...

Back on the wanna go list...hope you have fun :)

Im going there tomorrow for a weeks holiday, bringing my 40D along, so hopefully i'll get some decent shots, the place looks stunning.

I'm off to Dubrovnik in 5 weeks time and these shots are making me want to go sooner!!

I can't wait to get the camera out and enjoy the stunning scenery that is on offer. :0)

Cheers
