I have a rare bit of me time planned in December where - weather permitting - I'll shoot a sunset, a sunrise the following morning and another evening sunset and I'm starting to think about locations. This can be more or less anywhere in the North of England (though not Northumberland as I can do that anytime) so I'm going to open the floor to suggestions. I quite fancy the idea of being up high for at least one of the sunsets or sunrise as I don't get that opportunity all that often so hills with a great view are most welcome. I'm a reasonably experienced winter climber so nowhere is particularly off bounds. Not adverse to a nice lake or river scene, maybe even a castle.

I realise this is a vague question but hopefully some of your ideas might inspire a plan.

You ought to pick up a copy of Stuart Holmes' Lake District location book, also try Ellen Bowness' book for the Yorkshire Dales. Can't go wrong in the Lakes as there's so many different locations within a relatively small area. If the conditions are good you can almost be anywhere and get something decent

Agree with the above with regard to the lakes (y)

Cheers chaps. I realise I'm spoilt for choice here which is partly what makes deciding a little tricky! I might well pick up the lakes book mentioned. Seems like a good idea.
