I have a couple of landscape trips planned over the next few months and, like an excited child, I've started to watch a few youtube vids of locations as well as flickr etc. I was going to buy a paper map of the areas and start sticking post-it notes all over it with ideas/instructions/parking info etc but then it occurred to me that there must be a more modern method, ideally via a phone app. Anybody have any wisdom on this?

OS maps do an app, think it's £20 subscription for a year and you can plan routes etc on the PC and it'll sync them to your phone.

Thanks Ian. I use OS but should have mentioned these are both outside the UK.

In that case I am not sure. I know something like Google maps can be handy as you can download areas onto your phone for if you have no signal etc

If you want an app, ViewRanger is quite good and uses OpenStreetMap which is global. It lets you set points of interest, plot routes, track routes etc.

I’ll take a look thanks.
