Local paper have used my picture!!!!!

I am really chuffed. GOt a phone call of my nan asking if I knew anything about it. I didnt. She procedded to tell me all about it and how she was proud etc. GO the paper today and it is in there wooohooo.

As I said it just were you send your pictures and they use them. It isnt for a story just a bit of the paper where readers of the paper send i pictures they have taken. I am not going to let any publication use my pictures for free anymore, even if it risks getting published

Stick an invoice in. Locals pay around £35 for a pic of that size and quality. Nationals pay between £100 and £150 'on order' whether
they use the pics or not but if a paper uses a pic and they haven't ordered it, invoice them according to usage, size and distribution.

The guaranteed way of getting paid is to use a picture agency who sell into the papers. They will do a deal based on an agreed percentage
and will be the second source of images for any given newspaper after their staff photographer. The downside to pic agencies is it's very
competitive and can be quite demanding, time vs. reward + disappointment but when it pays it pays well.

It's not unheard of to be on a job for 3 papers in one day and when you get a sales sheet at the end of a month there can be some nice surprises
