Hi, has anyone seen the pictures on the Lloyds website. They feature a picture of the week, and the winner gets a prize, I think.

Is it just me, or are the winning pics just awful?
 
I think the weekly winners are chosen by the public, and therefore the winner just puts up a very average picture, but gets all their friends and family to vote for it. Worth it for a £100 if you've got a big enough network to vote at your request. The actual main competition is going to be properly judged by a panel.

Can't believe it closed the day before we found out - how frustrating!
 
So now there'll be a few silly sods walking around with 100 quid in their pocket thinking they're prize-winning professional photographers and wanting to charge their clients a million a shot, lol....

In general I believe people (X-factor candidates excluded) aren't completely deluded. ;)

This plus there's probably some small print in there somewhere saying that by entering your image you give up the rights to it. Ie. they are looking for some conceptual stock type images of weather which they can use for marketing and the like. Good weather = financial success, bad weather = debt, recession etc.

We got an invitation to enter a competition when I was doing my HND. The comp was run by a finance and investment company or similar who had just started operations in Scotland.

The competition brief was to produce images that showed your national pride or heritage or something. Basically, they wanted images to promote the fact they now had Scottish branches.
