Liverpool

Its easy to forget whats on your doorstep :) Never really visit the windmill, or the Priory. I lived in Oxton for close till I was about 7 but didn't think anything of it. Its where I live not where I photo. Bit odd yeah. I could go to Toxteth and photograph a random street I know nothing about because its new and interesting. Home is same old same old :)

i wondered why you gave it no thought - it makes sense now :)

I have loads of old glass photographic plates of Liverpool C early 1900's and a few prints that have been taken from them.

The trams continued to run until after WWII. They are one of the reasons that Liverpool has such wide suburban roads. Menlove Avenue, Mather Avenue and Princes Road all had trams running down the centre of them.

The building being demolished was replaced by the white building on the corner of Water Street and The Strand. This one.

Lord Street and Church Street are much the same, even the shops' owners are very different. Apart from the WH Smith (which River Island is now replacing) which replaced Coopers, a Liverpool tradition for a long time. People used to walk into Coopers, just to smell the coffee being roasted.

I was in liverpool last weekend too...went to the anglican cathedral and the docks area and saw the Ringo Star style lambanana...
took a few shots but, whenever i am part of a group (who aren't into photography) I feel a little self-conscious about stopping to take pics.
haven't done anything with them yet (errr the pictures, not the other people :) ) apart from putting them on to the PC.

Is it okay to take photos inside the cathedral or are you limited to just the outside?

In the Anglican cathedral I think you're expected to make a donation.

the donation boxes there were standaard I think...
just don;t take pictures during any services or when the choir are rehearsing...

It's only right to leave a donation.

I left a donation in the anglican church, but not the RC church. Only as me and my friend were asked to leave, as we were using lens hoods on our DSLRs. They thought that we were going to sell the pics on for profit.... Soooo, they asked us to leave.

They didn't get a donation, or a smile on the way out..

that huge church on the corner of Balls Road is spectacular

I remember it well. I used to goto the shops on Balls Road as a kid. Don't remember why as I lived off Townfield Lane and we had closer shops.
