I like it, some nice, well composed sequences. It all hangs together well, but might be nice if there was a bit more of a storyline or variety - like some progression through the night with some evening, to sunset to night kind of shots.

Excellent video, I really like it, but can you get the windmill turning for the next version!

Did you get any trouble from yellow jacketed personnel when you were taking pictures by the railway stations, or from the Police when you we shooting the traffic?

I would like to hear a how you made the video I.e. what software you used etc. I quite like the idea of having a go at time-lapse. I even bought a filter from Focus today, ready to slow the shutter speed.

Thanks thills, yeah im starting another one soon, was thinking a story line of some kind, life over a 24 hours period or something, sun up to sun down...etc this is the part of it i think im more likely to struggle with. Doing the shots is on thing but keeping it interesting is another.

Foxbat, i used quicktime pro, and a intervalometer to do the shots. The only time i got stopped was in Liverpool One, when i was quizzed what i was filming for by one of the security types but he was only asking because his boss had told him to do so, they were in radio contact. I think they don't mind people taking photos around that part of the city but don't like filming, so i told him I'm only taking photos (true) but the fact i was stationery didn't go in my favor so i was asking to move on but he was friendly about it. When you don't move you seem to attract more attention

The stations i got lucky, I've been ticked off in the past for taking photos around them, only person who stopped me was some fella who thought i was a pap waiting for someone!!

Thanks for the info Carlin. I have an intervalometer, so it's time I got out and about to have a go.

Good luck with your next project, I'm looking forward to seeing the results. Hope you don't get any grief from the yellow jackets.

Start with the end in mind - what you want to show, illustrate etc. then work out the best way of doing it. Sorry if that sounds a but cliche but it's a way of working that I tend to find works well! Look forward to seeing the next one.

There was a very eclectic mix of views there, and some odd colour casts too. Obviously some views are more interesting than others. As a local it is hard to know if it fits together as I know the disconnect between some of the locations.

I went out last week to do a few timelapse's on St Georges Plateau, where you were, looking towards the Queen Square junction and the buses leaving the bus stops and passing through with other traffic. I haven't animated mine together yet though. Looking to get Quicktime Pro as the software I used last time didn't compress very well.

Your video looks very good from a quality POV.

Some technical details if you would be so kind. ;)

What shutter speeds did you use? I was using 1/2 second last time I did a timelapse of the traffic, which gave the traffic a very fluid look the last time I did it. People tended to be more blurry though.

What capture frame frequency?

What playback frame rate?

Love the vid and music, really good.

Logistically thinking, Just wondering whether it would be better to shoot video other than single frames. Your'e output i'm guessing is 24 fps, so your'e talking about nearly 5k of actuations. which is a strain on the camera, if its for fun and you dont want to wear out your kit too quickly.

I can understand time lapse for flowers opening etc and the effects can be stunning, but for real time, its just a case of speeding up the video in editing.

Why isn't in hd out of interest? The res on a 12mp camera will out perform even the highest quality video cam.

I hope to be doing the same soon, I love the composition of your work, the urban cogs spinning hard and fast 24 hours of the day.

I liked it. I was a little worried about the compositions lacking at the beginning, The music somehow made it fit together then I got into its apparent random events story telling and started to enjoy it for that ... around the 2min mark the compositions got exciting and close and I really enjoyed all those closer streams and lights sets and continued to enjoy the rest to the end.
