Liverpool Area Beaches

Hi all,
we're spending the day in Liverpool tomorrow. I know the city fairly well but would like to try for a nice beach sunset if possible and I'm pretty clueless about the possibilities/locations nearby. I guess the 'Another Place' beach is an obvious choice but I'm guessing, if the weather turns out as its forecast, it'll be über-busy. Anyone have any recommendations within a reasonable driving distance from the city.?

Sefton Coast is the obvious one I guess.

the beach at Crosby is pretty big and as you are planning a sunset most of the crowds will have gone home, you can park at the Crosby marina(Cambridge road), Crosby baths (mariners road) or further along at Hall road coast guard station, there are statues all along it (all free parking btw)

tomorrows low tide is at 18.54 so the statues will be nicely exposed for you, the times ive been down there and seen people that have come to take pictures of the statues and the tide is in

Thanks folks. I'm tempted to go up the coast as well and have a look at Southport as the pier looks interesting and worth a pic.
