live view problem

I`ve just tried to use the live view on my canon 1000d and whilst it shows the image i`m going to shot it doesn`t focus on it and after taking the shot its just as blurred does any one have any thoughts on this please?

The shutter button doesn't focus when in live view. You need to press the star looking '*' button to focus i think if its the same as my 500d. or manual focus....

On my 450d (almost same as 1000D) you have to set 'autofocus during live view' ON in the custom/advanced settings.
