Yes
evening all.

so tonight I was taking some photos of a shotgun im selling,
I was in the bedroom under normal house lights,
I have a D800 with a 50mm f1.4 lens,
put it on the tripod and used a shutter release,
f2.8 ISO was 1000, shutter speed was 1/50th but when I took the photo it seemed more like a good second,
got the shots I needed but when I took it off the tripod I decided to just take a couple more hand held, all the same settings
but no shutter release, took the same quality of photo but the shutter seemed to be as it should at 1/50th
anyone any idea why it seemed so slow in LV.
thanks.

In live view the camera sensor is being used to create the image on the rear screen, meaning the mirror is up and shutter open. I'd expect the time taken was to close the shutter, possibly even drop the mirror, allow a moment for vibrations to die down and the sensor to clear data, then take the picture in the normal way.
