Just read a post on another camera forum where they have found that mirror up and live view add more than one activation to your shutter count - here is part of the post - I tried it out taking a picture, activating live view, turn off live view and take another picture. At least the D90 counted the live view activations as shutter count. If yoiu turn on the live view and take one picture with it it counts as three shutter actuations.
The original post was with reference to the D800 but this guy related it to the D90....presume all live view cameras work the same.
Anyone already aware of this??

I can confirm this on the D800, yes. Using live view to take a shot seems to "use up" 3 shutter actuations. The shutter does open three times during the procedure though. It opens once to enable live viewing... then it has to close in order to switch back to camera mode, open and close again to actually take the photo, then open again to go back into live view mode after taking the photo.
