I was wondering if anyone knew how to and what I need, ie; software to do this.

I want to basically take the picture with the camera and it appears on the screen of mylaptop so I can see it, I have seen a few photographers do this. I just wondered how to do it. :thinking:

It depends on what camera you got, normally the software comes in the box.
 
search 'tethered camera' and your camera for details ... nikon don't provide the software in the box, but canon does, don't know about the others :)
 
I use Camera Control Pro for my Nikon.

its a canon 350d I use, any ideas whats the best software? do I just plug it in via usb ye?
 
Adobe Lightroom has one built in if you already have it/or are looking to develop your hobby. You will need the canon software EOS Capture that should have come with the camera, then use Lightrooms auto import.
 
I have Lightroom and a Nikon D300. How would I go about getting the images to import in to Lightroon automatically? Is it as simple as a USB lead from the camera in to the computer? Do you have to set something up on the camera and in Lightroom?

Is it possible to get long USB leads for doing this?

Not a Nikon user myself but think you need the Nikon Capture software and then use Lightrooms Auto Import feature.
