Live aid

Couldn't agree more. Unfortunately I'm seeing bits I don't remember, watched sitting in the garden with tv just inside open window, add to thst too much wine, hence lack of memory of some parts. Just around 10pm for my highlight, Queen.

Queen just stole the show for me, seeing first time around and 40 years on.
Said to my wife at the end of Queen set , that was the best 22 mins of the whole concert years ago, snd still is now, Wembley just "erupted". At my age all my music "heroes" are going to the big concert in the sky, long may I outlive 'em.

AFAIK, Mr Rossi is still with us; his band mate Rick Parfitt isn't. :(

I was working the night of Band Aid and the landlord of the venue said he'd match the whip-round total that the band organized. Not sure he was expecting them to raise just shy of £450!

Oops , of course he is. Not good with Sunday mornings, despite no alcohol last night.

We watched it last week, it was a good reminder. On the day, I was glued to the tv, regularly changing tapes as I recorded it on VHS. I've got a DVD set now of it.
I think Quo were the perfect first act, they really got the show going. Queen were of course very good, but I particularly enjoyed many sets and can't pick any out of significance except the video of Jagger and Bowie doing Dancing in the Street, and sting's set with Phil collins.

In spite of having the DVD's we watched it through until 1. I could have done with the addition of a little more from the USA but a great evening's music and yes great lack of mobile phones.

Quo should have played much later than they did, Francis Rossi and wee Freddie now headlining the concert in the sky.
Francis Rossi was on the breakfast news on the Monday and said it was a deliberate choice to go on first - they thought they'd be able to do their bit and leave as they both lived near Wembley at the time! Apparently, not only did none of them realise what they'd signed up for in terms of size, they also had an attitude of 'turn up play, run' with all their gigs, rather than dressing room drinks ad wind downs....

Just watching live aid on tv and how nice is it not to have thousands of phone camera waving in the air like people do these days. Must of been great watching a festival with your eyes live rather than thru a small lcd screen. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Can't link to Twitter but relatively few phones for Oasis at Wembley in recent days...

(Relative to modern gigs, not Live Aid, obv)
