Anybody got the DVD box set of liveAid! My wife asked me to dig it out for some queen reminiscing and I'm missing the 2nd DVD!! Which basically has all the good bands on!
My question is if you do, could I get a copy!!
I believe that personal use extends to copying to playing in the car for personal use, not making a copy to pass to someone else.I thought they did away with copyright for personal use, they were certainly speaking about passing legislation for it some time ago.

Grey area admittedly![]()
It's not really a grey area. Making a copy of something you've licensed for personal use to distribute is clearly a breach of the licence.I believe that personal use extends to copying to playing in the car for personal use, not making a copy to pass to someone else.

Grey inasmuch as I leave that copy of the CD in the car, then someone else drives my car and listens to that CDIt's not really a grey area. Making a copy of something you've licensed for personal use to distribute is clearly a breach of the licence.
Isn't that similar to having mates round to watch a DVD? which is different to selling tickets and filling your front room with punters, ie private vs public performance.Grey inasmuch as I leave that copy of the CD in the car, then someone else drives my car and listens to that CD
Technically I've distributed it, but its with in my private property.
Then obviously an entertainment licence would be required, but I see no mention of payment, from the OP just asking a "friend" to pass them a copy.which is different to selling tickets and filling your front room with punters,

The same way that I wouldn't charge someone for listening to a copy in my car.
As I said grey area![]()
-That copy would have to be passed on a temporary basis. (As it is if someone borrows your car)
The Copyright and Rights in Performances (Personal Copies for Private Use) Regulations were made much less grey in 2014![]()

Unless it's changed, then lending a DVD to someone is also technically not allowed.![]()
I'll have to do some more looking at ripping software to get a few fillums onto a stick for the tablet - great way to make the flights fly by!
That wouldn't be exactly legal now would it?![]()
You could argue that as he has already bought the DVD, he is just mitigating his loss!
Steve.
Apart from the fact its all over an internet forum with 60,000+ members. However, we're missing two important facts:
1. No one is going to know.
2. No one is going to care.
I don't but being TP we just have to be outraged at thought of pirated "software"I really wouldn't worry about it.
I would tend to agree. It's probably not worth the time or effort to investigate and prosecute this kind of thing. They're more interested on people who are doing it at scale than folk passing on a copy of "disc 2 of Live Aid" to an acquaintance as a favour.Yes... apart from that!
However, there is no evidence that it has been done and who is mjb123? Difficult to take legal action against something which looks more like a car numberplate than a person's name!
The reality is that getting a copy of something you already owned but have lost is no real loss to the copyright owners. I really wouldn't worry about it.

Which reminds me of this..
Jesus came across an adulteress crouching in a corner with a crowd around her preparing to stone her to death.
Jesus stopped them and said, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Suddenly a woman at the back of the crowd fired off a stone at the adulteress,
It hits her straight between the eyes, knocking her unconscious!
Jesus stands there, hands on hips, turns to the woman as say's
MOTHER! sometime you really p*** me off!
Not sure when I first heard it TBH, but I suspect it may have been a lot earlier than thatMike Reid around 1992?
