Hey all!

I don't think I've posted here before, but I wouldn't mind some C&C on my micro studio I set up today.

I've fallen quite ill so I decided to motivate myself a little bit by taking a couple of pictures of myself, I just wanted to find out what I can improve on!

Seeing as I only have the basics, I used my curtain as a backdrop and used as fast of a shutter speed as possible to isolate myself a bit better. As you can see, the flash was on the left of me at 1/128 with the big umbrella.

This was the final result, I hated the blue of the curtain so I mocked it into a more purple colour in lightroom and also changed the white balance to stop me looking to pale!

This was the final result, do excuse how groggy I look! :(

Any tips or advice to get more isolation? As in there is only a small spot of the subject lit up? And also general studio advice, basic do's and dont's!?

Thanks!

Sorry to be late with this - but it's a project for this afternoon;).

That's a 2 light studio you have there:D

In that corner - with the spare blinds, here's what I'd do.

Create a primary light source with the windowlight, controlled with the curtains or other blackout material. Use a reflector to control the depth of the shadows.

Then you can use the flash as a rimlight to help with the separation.

Alternatively, use the flash as keylight and the window as a rimlight, or the window as a large lit background etc. You can see all the other alternatives now.
