There's also Rawstudio, it's not bad at all and it's available for free as well.
There are commercial ones as well, such as LightZone and Bibble.

Also, avoid Pixel (soon to be renamed to Pixel Studio Pro), as it was supposed to have been finished some 4 years ago, yet its author was unable release and fully working build to this date.

cheers peeps, should keep me going...

apart from not being able to sync to iPod Touch I think I can fully move over to Linux... some days I wish I hadnt sold my Macbook but then it was the selling of that which free'd up some readies for a DSLR so it was one or t'other..

Not sure if this is any help, but for my photo editing I run Debian 5.02.

I use Digikam for photo organisation, from this I edit the photos in gimp (raw conversion using ufraw). Only problem with Gimp is it doesn't (yet) support 16bit image editing, there have been times the extra bit depth would have helped to save a badly exposed image. However Cinepaint does support 16bits (and higher), however it isn't as easy to use as Gimp.

For panoramic stitching I use Hugin.

Can't help with Ipod touch as I own a drag and drop Sony mp3 player which shows on the computer as an external drive!

You could always use Senuti to rip everything off your ipod onto your linux machine.
