I did a quick and dirty adjustment by finding a website with colour ramps and set my monitor to show as much of the ramp as possible. You can get proper devices/software to do the whole colour management thing. Have a look in your distro repository. The main distro's will certainly have info - (e.g.) Ubuntu have a lot of stuff about ICC profiles/etc.
Tricky. Some hardware calibration devices do support Linux, and some don't directly but can be used by generic calibration tools. Some are useless. Best case you can run a calibration in windows and copy the resulting profile to be applied to Linux.
